Engagement

Every kilometer that a good is transported by rail saves CO² compared with other modes of transport. But that's not all: We have enshrined in our corporate values that we make our decisions in awareness of their impact on society and the environment. This is another reason why our companies are committed to supporting ecological and social projects in their respective regions.

September 2022 - Farge-Vegesacker Eisenbahn GmbH (FVE) - a company of Captrain Deutschland Group - has renatured more than 400 square meters of its company grounds in an insect-friendly manner. In this way, Captrain is setting an example against the sealing trend and making a contribution to biodiversity. Around 40 percent of insect species are already endangered. Around five percent are considered to be extinct. INSECT RESPECT® supports companies and institutions in compensating for insect control by creating species-rich compensation areas. The organization also invests in research and dialogue projects on the value of insects and helps landowners build insect-friendly habitats. The idea for the concept was created in 2012 as part of the "Save Flies" campaign by concept artists Frank and Patrik Riklin together with entrepreneur Dr. Hans-Dietrich Reckhaus. His Bielefeld-based company is one of the leading manufacturers of insect repellents in the European market. With this unusual concept, the company draws attention to the issue of insect mortality and at the same time takes responsibility for its own actions.
